Mutant Night
Mutant Night

1987 UPL

This is an odd little game.  There's not terribly much to say about it, save that it's a horizontal walking shooter with a weird main character.  Powerups make your character bigger, or multiply it.  Difficulty curve is pretty steep after the first level.  Somewhat addictive, but there are certainly both better and worse games to play.

Presentation is quite good for 1987, with some pleasing animations and mysterious, tinkly background music.  The enemies appear to be randomly-spawned, which makes repeat play more interesting - no more memorising the attack waves.

In short - and this is a very short review - it's worth playing, but perhaps only on the way to something else.
